Superbia…
November 2025
Earlier this year, we highlighted our Geneva firm’s sponsorship of the Tennis Open where Djokovic claimed his 100th professional title and we were proud seeing the Russell Bedford logo featured heavily around such a talented display of the sport.
Last week I had the pleasure of visiting Russell Bedford International’s office in Novak’s home town of Belgrade.
Our major events are special, as you will have seen in the recent posts about the Madrid annual global conference; but what makes my job somewhat more rewarding are the intimate short trips to our firms, travelling to a new location, experiencing an unfamiliar culture, to meet with the people in their local environment, who work so diligently for their clients, promoting our brand.
Celebrating the 20 year anniversary of their practice, I gratefully accepted the invite to visit Belgrade and the opportunity to reach my country number 73, being Serbia.
To be honest, I knew little about Serbia and was unsure what to expect. Well, whatever expectations I had were truly exceeded. The food was fabulous, the national wine was exquisite, the people were friendly and attentive, and the evening entertainment was fantastic; talented and impressive to say the least.
I particularly thank Bojana Medulović and her colleagues for such immense hospitality and for making my visit so memorable. I enjoyed learning more about the firm, which has been very successful, focused on quality, and continues to grow. I also learnt a lot about the country, its economy and current political challenges (which we all face, in various forms).
Additionally I was treated to a guided walking tour around the fortress; which taught me a lot about the country’s history. This commenced with the explanation of how the guide had lived in 4 “countries”, yet never moved city; emphasising the transition from the Socialist Republic of Yugoslavia, to the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, and then becoming Serbia and Montenegro, to now the independent Republic of Serbia.
I was in Serbia for only 2 nights and one full day, but it was super!
