Critical thinking skills for solving complex problems

24 June 2025

Online: 3PM - 4PM BST

Michael Quigley from Kataholos leads a webinar on critical thinking skills for solving complex problems, emphasising the importance of mental models like the SCIS (Simple question, engage with Complexity, Informed Simplicity) and RED (Recognise, Evaluate, Draw Conclusions) frameworks. He highlights the need for informed simplicity and the dangers of assumptions. Quigley also discusses the SCQA (Situation, Complication, Question, Answer) framework for clear communication and the Ladder of Inference for avoiding cognitive biases. He stresses the importance of capturing, processing, and storing information in long-term memory, rather than relying solely on AI.

Recording available on the members only intranet - recommended watching for those wanting to develop their critical thinking skills and explore different mental models to help with solving complex problems.
