Doing Business

Setting up and operating a business overseas is full of challenges, especially if you are doing it in a country that is new to you.

The Doing Business series of reports is published annually by The World Bank, especially for the guidance of those interested in doing business overseas. It is intended to answer some of the important, broad questions that may arise.

Russell Bedford International has been a ‘global partner’ in the World Bank's Doing Business annual projects since 2009, with Russell Bedford member and correspondent firms contributing data on tax regulation, compliance and the real tax burden on businesses and entrepreneurs.

The following reports* cover regulations measured from June 2011 to May 2012.

National Reports

National Doing Business reports shed light on how easy or difficult it is for an entrepreneur to open and run a business when complying with relevant regulations. They measure and track changes in regulations affecting 10 areas in the life cycle of a business, including: starting a business, registering property, getting credit, paying taxes and trading across borders.

Regional Reports

Regional Doing Business reports capture differences in business regulations and their enforcement across countries in a single region.

Global Reports

Doing Business 2013: Smarter Regulations for Small and Medium-Size Enterprises assesses regulations affecting domestic firms in 185 economies and ranks the economies in 10 areas of business regulation, such as starting a business, paying taxes, resolving insolvency and trading across borders.

Paying Taxes 2013, the annual Paying Taxes survey from the World Bank Group, is a part of its larger Doing Business report.
