Russell Bedford welcomes its first correspondent firm in Trinidad & Tobago

D. Montgomery & Co. Chartered Accountants has been selected as the Russell Bedford global network’s correspondent firm in Port of Spain, capital of Trinidad & Tobago in the West Indies.

The firm offers a full range of accounting, audit, tax, management consulting, forensic accounting, liquidations and IT consulting services.  Its clients are located in Trinidad & Tobago, other Caribbean islands and Guyana, and they include subsidiaries of international corporations.  The clients operate in various fields including offshore oil production, construction, financial services and the public sector.

The firm was founded as Date Montgomery & Co., with two partners, in 1975.  David Montgomery continued as sole partner from 1982, and Ruthven Thompson joined the partnership in 2004.

The senior partner, David Montgomery, has more than 45 years’ experience in the accounting profession.  Before establishing his own practice, he trained and gained experience with local firms that are now part of Big-4 accounting groups.  He is a Chartered Accountant, Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW) and Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Trinidad and Tobago (ICATT).  David was a Council Member of the ICATT for ten years and served as Chairman of the Institute’s Taxation Committee for five years.  David’s specialist areas of expertise are liquidations and forensic accounting.

Ruthven Thompson joined the firm as an audit trainee in 1993.  He is now an audit partner and also has responsibility for clients’ Information Technology needs.  He is a Chartered Certified Accountant, Fellow Member of the UK-based Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and Member of the ICATT.
