Russell Bedford International has expanded its coverage in Eastern Africa with the appointment of Sejjaaka, Kaawaase & Co. Certified Public Accountants as the accounting network's correspondent firm in Kampala, Uganda.
Sejjaaka, Kaawaase & Co. is one of the leading local public accounting firms in Uganda. Based in the capital, Kampala, it has operated since its foundation in 1988 in the fields of auditing, accounting, taxation and general financial consulting. The firm originally traded under the name Skill Consultants. It became S. K. Sejjaaka & Co. in 1992, and in 2001 it expanded and adopted its present name.
Sejjaaka, Kaawaase & Co. has extensive experience in a broad range of fields, with a particular edge in the public sector and in international development agency project audits.
The firm has two partners, both of whom are Certified Public Accountants and full members of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU). In addition both partners are Fellows of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) of the UK.
Dr. Samuel K. Sejjaaka has more than 20 years’ experience in public practice as an accountant, auditor and consultant. He is an Associate Professor of Accounting at Makerere University Business School, Kampala, and he currently serves on the boards of directors of Stanbic Bank Ltd (listed on the Uganda Securities Exchange), AUP Insurance and Posta Uganda. In addition to his professional qualifications, he holds a BCom (Accounting major) and a post-graduate diploma in Computer Science from Makerere University, and he has a Master of Science in Financial Studies from Strathclyde University (UK).
Haj. Twaha Kigongo Kaawaase has more than 20 years’ professional experience during which he has lectured, practised and regulated accounting, auditing and finance. He is a graduate of Makerere University where he obtained a BCom (Accounting major). He holds a postgraduate diploma in Development Finance and a Master of Social Science in Accounting & Development Finance from the University of Birmingham (UK). He is a Certified Corporate Governance Trainer and a PhD candidate (Audit Quality) at the University of Dar es Salaam (Tanzania). He is a senior lecturer at Makerere University Business School. He has held senior positions in the insurance industry and at the Uganda Development Bank. His corporate governance activities have seen him serve on a number of key boards of directors. He is currently the Chairman of the Capital Markets Authority and a member of the boards of directors of the Civil Aviation Authority, National Planning Authority, Uganda Health Marketing Group, Central Broadcasting Services and many others in the private sector. In addition, Haj. Kaawaase is the Minister of State for Finance for Buganda Kingdom – one of the original and largest Kingdoms in Uganda.
The firm has successfully passed prequalification inspections and quality assurance reviews carried out for ICPAU, the Africa Development Bank, the World Bank and the Auditor General of Uganda
